I'm a DevOps engineer, five years in and still passionate about it. I'm at my best building the platform the rest of engineering ships on: the CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and tooling that make everyone else faster and calmer. I treat the rest of engineering as my customers, and I care as much about leaving the systems and the people better than I found them as I do about shipping the work.

I'm relentlessly curious and I learn by building. I think we're living in a golden age: there's never been this much capability in our hands, and I lean on AI to execute and move faster while being careful never to outsource the thinking. When I'm convinced a tool will make us better I'll build the case and bring people along, while staying open to being talked out of it.

DevOps Engineer II (Mar 2025 – Present) · DevOps Engineer (Jun 2021 – Mar 2025)

  • Designed the reusable GitHub Actions workflow-template pattern the org still ships on: build and deploy in one workflow, since extended across ECS, Lambda, Step Functions, JARs, and Glue.
  • Re-architected ECS deploys so each service versions its task definitions alongside its own code, ending a class of drift outages.
  • Replaced a static CI runner with an autoscaling fleet of ephemeral spot runners (scales to zero when idle, up to ten under load), cutting runner cost by roughly 60%.
  • Built the PagerDuty alerting Lambda that uses AI to investigate a failure the moment it pages and hands on-call a root-cause writeup with one-click links.

Cloud Engineer

  • Migrated client workloads from AWS, Heroku, DigitalOcean, and on-prem to GCP; ran cost-optimization sessions and evangelized containers, Kubernetes, and 12-factor methodology.

Jr. DevOps Engineer

  • Containerized a legacy DNS system with Docker + Helm on Kubernetes (~$10K/yr saved); built Jenkins CI/CD, provisioned AWS with Terraform, and wrote Go Prometheus exporters with Grafana SLI/SLO dashboards.
